Boss Paul Wotton is closing in on new additions to his squad with the Truro City boss ‘very confident’ that at least one arrival will be forthcoming this week.
The well-documented sale of Treyew Road and temporary groundshare with Plymouth Parkway for next term has seen off-field matters become a hot discussion point for supporters in recent months.
Player recruitment and the composition of Wotton’s squad has therfore taken a back seat although Wotton, speaking exclusively to the Voice yesterday, hinted at how many players he would be looking to sign, whilst revealing that there will be departures, too.
“I’m very confident of getting two players in on permanent deals and one of those could happen this week,” he began.
“I’m very confident of getting them both over the line and my first signing, if it all goes to plan, is one I am very excited about.
“I’m also very confident of getting two loans for the start of the next season.”
Wotton also confirmed that a new deal is on the table for goalkeeper James Hamon with the former Exeter City gloveman spending time on loan at Torquay this season.
“(Hamon) has been offered a new deal and he’s not even out of contract yet, so we will enter into negotiations with him – that’s the nuts and bolts of that one,” Wotton added.
The White Tigers chief, whose son Alfie was offered an extension to his scholarship deal at Plymouth Argyle yesterday, confirmed that he sees little reason for wholesale change amongst the City ranks.
“I have lost Kieran Hayes who was given an offer he couldn’t refuse in the Philippines,” he said. “We have released Reuben Collins as his contract wasn’t renewed so overall, we will have retained 95 per cent of our squad.
“I believe in them as I did last year so all we will need is a couple of fresh faces - only because we will have a couple of spaces in our squad.”
